WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS TRAINING

  • This training offers an in-depth, multi-disciplined approach.
    Prenatal yoga is SO much more than simply knowing how to teach prenatal asana and sequencing! You will learn new terms, concepts, approaches and perspectives in order to become a well-rounded prenatal yoga teacher. This necessitates a certain time commitment on your part to integrate new information and practice new skills. This training is ideal for students who are enthusiastic, and eager to learn much more than expected.

  • This is NOT an over-booked, pre-recorded, “intensive”, or weekend program. The lead trainer commits to focusing on YOU and your training needs. That means the training groups are not large. You receive the personal attention you deserve, as well as the opportunity to get to know your classmates. You also have ample timeframes to absorb the new skills, complete your requirements and ask questions to avoid information overload. This approach will help you to be solidly prepared and knowledgable when you begin teaching prenatal yoga on your own.

  • You select how many hours of training you want. Level 1 is a 35-hour certification course that prepares you to teach a well-rounded prenatal yoga class. You will receive continuing education hours from Yoga Alliance, or Yoga Alliance Professionals upon successful completion of Level 1. After completion of Level 1, you may select to go on for more prenatal yoga training in Level 2, which offers an additional 50 hours. Completion of Level 2 qualifies you for the 85 hour RPYT (Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher) credential with Yoga Alliance and provides 85 hours of training with Yoga Alliance Professionals. You must complete both Level 1 and Level 2 training with Devi Ma Yoga within one year to receive the full 85 hour credential.

  • There are assignments. The homework for Level 1 includes prenatal yoga class observations, two quizzes and reading assignments from the course manual. In Level 2 the homework will include additional prenatal yoga class observations, reading and writing assignments as well as practice sessions, group mentoring, lesson-planning (with guidance and feedback), one quiz, and a final qualifying practicum class. All participants receive a course manual and supplementary course materials.

  • You have latitude to self-pace the completion of your requirements while in the program. You may take up to one year to complete all of the requirements. Most participants successfully complete the course within 1-3 months.

  • This training is livestream with the option to receive recorded sessions for those unable to attend livestream. However, you are encouraged to attend as many livestream sessions as possible. This will enhance your learning experience greatly by allowing you to connect with your classmates and the trainer. You also get to ask your questions directly as the material is covered. (*NOTE: This training is not designed for students who cannot attend any livestream sessions.)

  • This course does not include postnatal yoga training. Postnatal yoga is a related but different topic of study that TRULY deserves its own dedicated training. So, this prenatal yoga teacher training is just that: prenatal yoga. In this way you know you have gained the full, comprehensive skill-set to be a well-informed, confident prenatal yoga teacher. All graduates receive discount opportunities for our postnatal yoga teacher training as well as the Yoga for Labor and Delivery Teacher Training.

  • Many participants find this training to be personally transformational. Feedback from numerous participants has shown that this training delivers FAR more than expected. For many participants, it ignites a very deep and enduring passion for this work. A number of our graduates go on to explore new avenues of career opportunity within the field of women’s-wellness that were never considered before (such as doula support, family therapy, lactation counseling, birth education, community advocacy, etc). For graduates who choose to become doulas, you are qualified to receive exclusive doula mentoring opportunities with Devi Ma Yoga.

  • This is not the average prenatal yoga teacher training. Devi Ma Yoga has specialized in prenatal yoga, childbirth education, lactation and birth doula support for 20 years. This vast knowledge is woven into this training for an enriched learning experience not easily found elsewhere.

TO TAKE THIS TRAINING YOU MUST:

  • Hold a 200-hour basic yoga teacher certification. (*Those who do not hold a 200 hour basic yoga teacher certification may be considered for this course on a case-by case basis if your professional background and/or yoga practice experience qualifies you for this course. Please inquire here.)

  • Feel commitment to enriching the lives of women, empowering moms-to-be, and supporting new families;

  • Possess a thirst for knowledge and enjoyment of study

  • Previous yoga teaching experience is recommended, but not required.
