It is said that women in labor leave their bodies. They travel to the stars to collect the souls of their babies and return to this world together.

Doula Services

A birth doula is trained in the support of couples during labor and delivery. A doula assists by providing continuous physical and emotional support. This includes suggestions and guidance with movements, breath and other techniques that help reduce discomfort and facilitate the birth process. The doula also provides assistance with birth planning and information to help you make informed decisions in collaboration with your medical provider.

A doula does not replace your partner, but rather assists your partner in supporting you. Partners often report feeling more relaxed and present for the birth when a doula is present to answer questions and provide guidance. Doulas work with you before, during and after the birth of your baby.

Studies show that women and their partners benefit tremendously from the presence of a doula. Reduced rates of medical intervention, shorter labor, increased satisfaction with their birth experience, and lower rates of postpartum depression are just a few of the benefits.  Additionally, women who want, or need epidural also benefit from a doula's presence and support. Partners report feeling more involved, confident and present during this miraculous event with the extra support of a doula.

A postpartum doula is trained in the support of new families once you return home with your baby. A postpartum doula provides assistance with baby care, lactation support and provides the extra help and information that often needed as you begin life as a new family.

Devi Ma has over a decade of experience supporting births.

Services include a continuum of comprehensive services that span pregnancy, birth and postpartum (for up to six weeks after delivery). You will receive birth preparation counseling, prenatal support, on-call services from week 37 until your delivery, continuous birth support during labor, lactation services and follow ups after your baby is born. But don’t wait to book services! We would love to support everyone, but doula services are intensive and we can only accept a limited number of clients each month. It is never too soon to inquire and book your doula services.

What past doula clients have said:

“We know we said this in person, but we can’t help reiterating how grateful we were to have you play an important and wonderful role at our baby’s birth. We can’t imagine it going any smoother and we will always be thankful for your calm nature, good will and strong guidance.” ~Brenna & Nick

”And, of course, we don’t know how to thank you enough for helping us to have the birth we wanted...again! Not a week goes by that I don’t share our birth story and mention how awesome you were — and how helpful “nature’s epidural” was.”  ~Marisa & David (baby #2)

“Thank you for being a part of the most amazing experience of our lives. We couldn’t imagine doing it without you.” ~Alexis & Rocky

“You helped me to focus on my breath and kept me calm during contractions. Thank you for your sound advice and support in all of our decisions. We couldn’t have gotten through it without you.” ~Beth & Alan

“I don’t know where to begin to thank you for all of your love and support along my journey into motherhood. Thank you for your gifts of wisdom and knowledge and for holding a sacred space for me during all the ups and downs of my pregnancy and birth.”~Eila
